I tied them normally and then soak in soda ash and then pull them out and immediately pour dye over them

here is #1  and it is lighter than it appear in the photos

For this, I start with a Black or other color tee, fold and tie it up and then I remove color from the tee leaving a patten of light tan and black. From here you can rinse well or wash and then add color back in. I tied this one back up and dyed it to accent the Rose. I use Procion dyes which are professional strength commercial dyes, the colors stay
